SUMMER STEM CAMP

We are being cautious and canceling camp.

With the increasing spike in COVID numbers in Arizona, the Board of the Bisbee Science Lab has decided that this is not the best time for a summer camp. But please stay tuned, we will do it when it's safe!

Summer STEM Camp at the Bisbee Science Lab Annex

The Bisbee Science Lab is proud to present a socially distanced STEM summer camp at the San Jose Annex! Your children will be outside (inside for inclement weather) to learn about germs, solar energy, engineering, biology, and many more fun and exciting STEM topics through hands-on (but appropriately distanced) games and activities!

We will be offering two, one-week camp opportunities for kids 8-12, with each week covering the same materials.  Our first session begins July 13 through the 17th and runs from 8:30 to 12:30.  The second session begins July 20 through the 24th.  Also, from 8:30 to 12:30.  Our registration form can be found on the REGISTRATION page.  Please, also review our PROGRAM POLICIES for information on cancellations, time changes, and more.

Our camps are limited to the first fifteen registrations.  We will limit each child’s participation to one of the two sessions, allowing more kids to participate.

Participants must be 8 to 12 years old and will want to attend each day of the camp to take full advantage of the learning activities which are created to build on knowledge gained throughout the camp experience.

The Bisbee Science Lab staff have conducted significant research to build a challenging, hands-on curriculum while adhering to necessary COVID and safety precautions.  Read the SAFETY NOTES section for more information about our policies and precautions.

Summer STEM Camp Leaders

A special thanks to the BUSD for providing the space, intern sponsorship, and ongoing support for the Summer STEM Camp.

Lilian Morales

My name is Lilian Morales and I am a recent graduate from Northern Arizona University where I studied secondary education Spanish. I grew up in Bisbee and have spent the majority of my time throughout high school embedding myself in the community. I have held restaurant jobs at some of the best local places in town, worked as a lifeguard for the Bisbee city pool, volunteered at the Bisbee Historical Mining Museum as well as the Bisbee coalition for the homeless. I love working with the community and can't wait to further my teaching experience through this camp!

Yasmín Morales

My name is Yasmín Morales, I am 17 years old and I am a senior at Bisbee High school. I play volleyball, basketball, and run cross country and track for Bisbee high school. I am also the president of my class, and president of the prom committee. I am a part of student council, National Honors Society and my schools health club. I also work at Thuy’s noodle shop in old Bisbee! I volunteer at the Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum, Bisbee Animal Shelter, and Coalition for the homeless. I like getting involved in my community and am excited for the opportunity to work in this summer camp!

Jade Luinstra

Hi, my name is Jade Luinstra. This upcoming school year, I will be a senior at Bisbee High School. This year I will be taking my math, science, english, and drones classes through Cochise College, but I am most excited for Math! My plan after high school is to go to college for Engineering. I was born in Georgia and moved all around while I grew up, eventually landing here in Bisbee. I love to travel and have gone on many trips that were science related! When I was in 8th grade, I had the amazing opportunity to represent my middle school and attend a STEM event in Belgium. I really enjoyed myself at the event, because I had the opportunity to work with other students from all around the world. I had a lot of fun learning different programming systems while building windmills and cars. I am really excited to help out with the Bisbee Science Lab Summer Camp as an Intern and help others learn to love math and science!
